A delicious no-bake dessert featuring a crunchy pretzel crust, creamy peanut butter cheesecake filling, rich chocolate pudding, and a fluffy whipped topping. This easy layered dessert combines sweet and salty flavors without turning on the oven.
Ingredients
For the Pretzel Crust
- 8 oz pretzels, crushed
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
For the Peanut Butter Layer
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
For the Chocolate Layer
- 1 package (5.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 1/2 cups cold milk
For the Topping
- 8 oz whipped topping, thawed
- Extra crushed pretzels or a drizzle of peanut butter, optional
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pretzel Crust
Crush the pretzels into small crumbs using a food processor or place them in a sealed bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Melt the butter and mix it with the crushed pretzels until evenly combined. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 7-by-10-inch baking dish to create an even crust.
Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Layer
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and creamy peanut butter until smooth and creamy.
Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the pretzel crust, reaching all the edges.
Step 3: Prepare the Chocolate Pudding
In a separate bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with 2 1/2 cups of cold milk. Continue whisking according to the package directions until the pudding thickens.
Spread the chocolate pudding evenly over the peanut butter layer.
Step 4: Add the Whipped Topping
Gently spread the thawed whipped topping over the chocolate pudding layer, covering the entire surface.
For extra texture and flavor, sprinkle crushed pretzels over the top or drizzle with a little melted peanut butter.
Step 5: Chill and Serve
Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours, or until the layers are set enough to slice neatly.
Cut into squares and serve chilled. Keep any leftovers refrigerated.
Recipe Notes
- Use softened cream cheese to achieve a smooth, lump-free filling.
- Press the pretzel crust firmly into the dish so it holds together when serving.
- Use instant pudding mix, not cook-and-serve pudding.
- For cleaner slices, chill the dessert longer before cutting.
- Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
