Ingredients:
- 1 box Duncan Hines yellow cake mix
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 box vanilla instant pudding mix
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup white wine (any kind will do)
Glaze:
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup white wine
Instructions:
1. Prepare for Baking:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a bundt pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
2. Mix the Cake Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla pudding mix, and cinnamon. Add the eggs, water, oil, and wine. Mix well by hand or with a hand mixer until fully blended.
3. Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the greased bundt pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
4. Prepare the Glaze:
When the cake is almost finished baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the sugar and wine until the sugar has dissolved completely.
5. Glaze the Cake:
When the cake comes out of the oven, pour the warm glaze over the hot cake while it’s still in the bundt pan. Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes.
6. Serve:
Once the cake has cooled, carefully flip it out of the pan onto a serving plate. Slice and enjoy!
Tips for the Perfect Crack Cake
- Wine Substitutes: If you prefer to skip the wine, you can replace it with water. The cake will still be moist, though you may miss out on the subtle flavor the wine provides.
- Glaze Options: You can also omit the wine in the glaze if you’d like. The cake will still have that luscious, moist texture without the extra flavor.
- Pan Release Tips: This cake is very moist, which helps prevent sticking. If you’re serving this for guests, try using 1/2 cup oil for extra moistness. For a slightly lighter texture, use only 1/4 cup when baking for family or casual gatherings.
Enjoy your Crack Cake, and prepare for compliments!
