Servings: 8

  • 17.5 oz (500 g) mixture of mince
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 large head of onion
  • 4 potatoes
  • 4 oz (120 g) cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 2/5 cup (100 g) sour cream
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Black pepper (to taste)

  1. In a bowl, combine the mince with grated garlic cloves, basil, 1 tbsp sour cream, black pepper, and salt to taste. Knead thoroughly and set aside.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Add chopped onions and sauté until softened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Peel and finely dice the hard-boiled eggs. Mix them with mayonnaise until homogeneous.
  4. Form 8 flattened round meatballs from the mince mixture and place them on an oiled tray with space in between.
  5. Top each meatball with braised onions, followed by the egg/mayo mixture.
  6. Grate the potatoes and season with salt and black pepper. Pile them on top of the meatballs.
  7. Grate the cheese and sprinkle it over the potatoes. Spread a little sour cream on top for a soft cheesy crust.
  8. Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C). Bake the dish for about 40-45 minutes until it forms a golden crust.
