Christmas Cookie Bars
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup red and green M&M’s
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup holiday sprinkles
Directions:
1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Prepare Wet Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and packed brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined (do not overmix).
4. Add Mix-Ins:
- Fold in the red and green M&M’s, white chocolate chips, and holiday sprinkles to distribute evenly throughout the batter.
5. Bake:
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Be careful not to overbake, as this can cause the bars to dry out.
6. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
